London. Salary dependent on experience.
Launched in May 2009, 38 Degrees has rapidly become one of the UK’s largest campaigning communities. They’re an influential and high-profile organisation, bringing together millions of UK citizens and enabling them to campaign for change on the issues that matter to them.
They are looking for an amazing Campaigns Director to strengthen the leadership of their growing staff team. If you’re a strategic leader with tons of political nous, passionate about people power, and a little bit scrappy, this could be your perfect job.
Their members’ campaign successes have included stopping the privatisation of England’s forests; protecting a range of NHS services; and helping prevent cuts to tax credits. Recently they have started to enable their members to be influential as consumers as well as voters – for example switching tens of thousands of customers away from “Big Six” energy suppliers, and getting Asda to drop plans to remove foodbank collection points from their stores.
They are looking for an amazing Campaigns Director to strengthen the leadership of their growing team of 25 staff. You will want to deploy your creative talents to serve their members’ desire to help build a better UK by:
- taking responsibility for leading big people-powered campaigns
- managing senior staff and major projects
- developing partnerships and alliances
- overseeing delivery of on and off-line tactics
- playing a lead role in determining 38 Degrees organisational strategy.
This Campaigns Director position will be great for someone who wants to make change happen by mobilising and organising very large numbers of people on the big issues of the day. It won’t suit someone who wants quiet days at a desk or to focus narrowly on one issue. You will be a special type of person. You will either be a professional campaigner with extensive grassroots experience or you will have worked in, or to, influence business. A start-up mentality is welcome, but you have the support of an established, effective team. Above all you’ll need to be passionate about progressive issues, a skilled leader and organisational thinker, and committed to people power as a way to make change happen.

We’ll take you to the EA website to apply for this role, (while we’re working on making all jobs mobile friendly).
